Thought

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity."

-- Albert Einstein"

Thinking is important to me. Might that be why it has taken me so long to figure out what to write in these pages?

Oh well, I'll think of something some day...

As I was trying to explain something in a letter, it occured to me that it might fit here. Here we go...

Well, I guess I think quite a lot. When I come up with an idea, I think about it: Explore it, turn it upside down and inside out and examine it. I don't know if I'm especially clever, but I spend a lot of time thinking. I think an ability to express an idea usually comes from an ability to understand that idea. What is unclearly said is often unclearly thought...

I also think there is a big difference between my writing and my talking. My verbal expressions are probably often hard to follow... There are so many thoughts that want to get out of my head, and I almost compulsively feel that I have to follow all the meanderings and dead ends of my thoughts or my description will be so incomplete that it would almost be a lie. This causes people to get tired and loose track or interrupt me (since I probably interupted them in the first place anyway) before I get to the point.

Writing also has the obvious advantage that it gives you a good chance to analyze and modify your thought while you express them, and the receiver don't see anything except the finished, polished result.
