"Joy in looking and comprehending is nature's most beautiful gift."
I moved to Umeå in 1997, where I live in a three room flat (living room, bed room and computer room (of course) together with my wife and son.
I'm interested in photography, and I used to be a member of Mölndals Fotoklubb before I moved up north. Lately I haven't really photographed as much as I used too. I do take a lot of pictures when I am travelling, which I like to do on my vacations. I also like taking portraits.
As I just wrote, I travel around a bit now and then, and have for instance visited Balticum, Indonesia and Central America, as well as a number of European countries. I like seeing other cultures and new places, as well as meeting people I've never met before.
Another interest is Fantasy Roleplaying, especially the fabulous Hârn. In regards to Hârn, I am coordinating the Hârn Religion Team, an effort to flesh out the religious aspects of that world. I have a 'running' HarnWorld campaign, but unfortunately neither me nor the players have much time for it, so we just play a few times per year... (Most years anyway....)
I also like computers, and I can't quite stay away from them when work is over. I have a lot of great ideas about various revolutionary computer programs that I will write as soon as I get retired. :-)
I do try not to spend all my time in front of a screen though. I still have several friends, some of which I even meet in the Real World [type 2]. I enjoy spending time with them at the pub for instance, have a pint of beer or two, and maybe a sip of malt whisky. Al though, now most of them live 1000 kms away... My closest friend, Auste, is a Lithuanian paediatrician whom I met in a Lithuania on the verge of separation from the crumbling Soviet Union in 1991. We fell in love, but things didn't really work out then. A few years later we managed to reconnect when she got an email account. :) Now we're closer than ever, and July 5th 1997 we got married in her home town Kaunas. Life changes in unpredictable ways sometimes. I guess I have the computers to thank for many things...
Food is also a great source of enjoyment in life. I both like eating and cooking, especially when I have someone else to share the meal with. Since 1980 I'm a vegetarian, which is probably very fortunate, considering that I enjoy my meals and spend most of my days immobile in front of computers. Lately I've made some Indian food, but I also make a lot of pasta, and my journeys around the world has given my a lot of inspiration. Now and the I have some red wine with dinner (if I have some nice company to share a bottle with), but I'm really much more of a beer person than a wine person I guess...
Obviously there's much more 'playing' to life than the samples above. Art, music, movies, nature, hiking, hugging, bathing (not this cold summer though, except possibly in the tub), diving (long, long time ago), talking, reading, writing, dancing, bicycling... Do you want me to go on longer?
