Integrity

I think integrity is overrated. But then I guess I've lived a life where I had a lot of it. Maybe I would have thought differently if I had been brought up in some zenophobic village where people made notes about everybody who acted strangely.

The thing is, that in a society we do depend on each other, but in modern urban Sweden it's somehow hidden behind a lot of institutions and walls and metal and glass. If someone in my vicinity does something bad, it might well hurt me, and I have the right to protect myself. And if someone is in need of help I should care. On the other hand we all deserve some privacy.

Well I think there is plenty of privacy in the world where I live, but sometimes a big lack of contact between people. It's really sad when old people die in their flats, surrounded by neighbours, and aren't found until the smell makes the neighbours complain... Well, I guess it's partly part of the Swedish mentality, we are a bit reserved sometimes...
