"The only source of knowledge is experience."

There is also a résumé available.
I have worked more or less equally long with electronics hardware and computer software. I'm experienced in design of digital electronics. Since I worked in the conservative space industry, I've mainly built with good old HC logic, but I'm not completely lost with programable logic, and I have a grasp of VHDL etc. Having worked with space electronics, I've learnt to do thorough analyses and documentation, as well as robust and reliable designs. I have worked with Computer Aided Engineering tools, both on UNIX workstations (mainly Mentor Graphics) and on PC's (mainly OrCad SDT). I worked with test before I got my master's degree, so I also know a bit about tests and measurement. I also worked a bit as sysop and instructor for the Mentor CAE system. I have programmed professionally in Pascal, C, C++, Python, Perl, SQL, unix tools such as sh/csh/sed/awk, Jyacc Application Manager and a number of other tools. I've also programmed in Ada, assembler and other languages such as Basic and Forth during my education. As these pages (I hope) suggest I can also handle the world wide web. I have worked a lot with relational databases, both as a DBA, system designer, programmer and supervisor for programmers. I can handle DB/2, Informix, Ingres, Oracle, SQLBase and Sybase databases reasonably well, and I have some familiarity with smaller systems such as Access and Filemaker. Most of my work has been done in personal computers running DOS or Windows, or in unix workstations, but I've spent some time with VAX/VMS and Macintosh too. I can find my way around in Novell and TCP/IP networks, and I have a fair knowledge of the internet. As you might expect, I also have a fair grasp of the inside of computers, and I'm not afraid of pulling my PCs apart to install new devices etc. |
When I'm not working, I sometimes photograph. I'm a reasonably active
photographer, and besides just taking pictures, I've also messed around
a lot in darkrooms, mainly with black and white, but also a little
with colour. I've also played a little with digital image processing
and manipulation. These days it's mainly tourist photography etc, but
I enjoy taking portraits too. It has happened that I was payed for my
pictures, but so far I'm very far from earning what I've spent on my
equipment, so I suppose I'm still an amateur. ;-)
Swedish is my native language, but I consider myself fluent in English too. I understand Norwegian and Danish with some concentration, and with good will, Norwegians and Danes understand me too. I also speak a little German and Spanish... but that's just a little. The current project is to learn Lithuanian, but the progress is slow... It seems that several people have been pleasently surprised by my food, so I guess I can add vegetarian cooking to the 'can do' list. Business administration and book keeping are other skills I've aquired through the years. I've been responsible for employees as chairman in non profit organisations, and I've also handled economy, with salaries and taxes, as treasurer. I'm now running my own company, and handle its economy without major complaints from my accountant or the tax authorities... |
